i'd assume you guys are already deep into balance dev, so this is just food for thought.
I feel that certain weapon types should get their own trees, but there should also be 3-5 seperate skill trees that can be multiclasses.
the seperate trees use skill points that are maxed from level 1. So you have a max level of skill points, which is just enough to max one tree and go halfway into another, or do a more creative splash. These trees have things that affect global aggro, hp, starting money, stuff like that.
The class trees would have only have bonuses that affect a certain weapon type, same as last game. This would differ from killing floor one in that you could sacrifice certain parts of a class for more intensve bonuses in others. For instance, you could not get any cost reduction on the weapons at all, but instead get much more damage on them. Or you could not get any self damage reduction on weapons, but reduce their equip time and movement speed. You can also change around class benefits. These bonuses would be partially global, such as
>40% more damage with assualt rifles, 20% more damage with all bullet based weapons
so that you can multiclass. The weapon based trees would require grinding and have a max amount of skillpoints, and allow for a little multiclassing. In order to re-spec or do differant trees, you need to make a new character.
Again, I wouldn't have it this way specifically but these suggestions are just food for thought.
