Why does Red Orchestra 2 not feature more combined arms considering much of Operation Barbarossa involved vehicles?
I'll admit that in the maps of the cramped city of Stalingrad itself combined arms would be difficult to do well, but what about on the more open maps?
Not that infantry battles aren't fun or frantic, but I think the tension and chaos from tossing vehicles into the fray adds to the gameplay in a positive way.
Perhaps more open combined arms maps could be created?
Or maybe it's the fact that combined arms in RO2 means "T-34 vs Panzer IV" (until we get the "new hardware" update, thank you TWI ;)), and there's just a lack of vehicle variability.
Perhaps add more halftracks to maps? makes for great vehicular squadplay.
Maybe lend-lease Bazookas/captured Bazookas could be added for the anti-tank class as a substitute for the team's respective Anti-Tank rifle if one wished to use it? More damage if they hit the right spots, but a large backblast that gives away the firer combined with a long reload time with only 3 spare rounds in a pack. They are period correct I believe, being late 1942 in Russia.
EDIT: Another interesting thought is combined arms in Rising Storm, as both the Japanese and Americans fielded tanks (Perhaps M3 Stuart vs Type 95 Ha-Go?). I know that building more vehicles is probably off the radar because of the detail and time it takes to make them, just a thought.
I don't know, just spitballing.
