Looking back on Unreal Tournament 2004 (a game that runs on the same engine as Killing Floor and the game where the original mod version was created), players had the option of choosing which voice-pack their character had.
This could mean that humans could have robot voices, robots could have alien voices, basically anyone could mix and match.
I found this to be a nice way to customize your character, and I think KF2 should have something like this too.
My only warning would be to separate it so that males could not have female voices, and vice versa. Or don't, and let customization run wild.
The point of this would be to have multiple female and male voices respectively that players could choose from to add a bit more customization options and diversity in the game.
So rather than having 2 DJ Scullys who are both voiced by the same person, one of them could have an Irish voice while another had an English or French voice.
I don't think this could prove to be potentially "lore destroying", since there were 2 male voices in KF1 and several characters in the game shared the exact same voice, which was silly.
This brings up the question, should the characters in KF2 really have "official" voices? I propose not. I'm just thinking it'd be fun to play as an Irish DJ Scully or something of that nature.
(If you don't know where I'm getting the "Irish voice" idea from, watch the last few seconds of "Dev Diaries: Weapons and Perks part 2")
