Twisted Christmas

Hey Tripwire Fans,

Perhaps my searches have not been comprehensive, but has the dates for the Twisted Christmas for this year been announced as yet?



Based upon the patch dates from the last two years, it looked like middle of the first week of December or the beginning of the second week of December.



I was just curious if there was a definitive date or not.

How Do I Make a Custom Maplist for DS?

I have a new stand alone KF dedicated server (DS) that now can host KF very well..

This DS is in my home and I do not use it to play KF. It is only used to host games (KF, L4D1&2,CSS,CS-GO) using a high speed Comcast Cable DSL. So I just don't wan't anyone to think that i'm using the KF in-gane Listen or DS. I use another computer with a slower AT&T DSL to play KF and the other games on.

As of now I only wish to run 6 maps. 1 of them is a stock map (ie. KF-Farm.rom) that comes with the game and the other 5 are custom maps that I downloaded from sties like Gamebananna, ModDB and Gamemaps. All of these maps run fine.

For now i'll just call these maps:

Custom_Map_One.rom

Custom_Map_Two.rom

Custom_Map_Three.rom

Custom_Map_Four.rom

Custom_Map_Five.rom

Stock_Map_Six.rom (KF-Farm)

My ?'sre:

1. What files in my stand alone dedicated server do I have to modify to only host these maps?

2. If I can do this, how do I list thes maps on that file? (please give me an exapmle of the proper listing format.

P.S. When i first installed the KF game (bought and downloaded from Steam) I added these 5 custom maps along with the 1 stock map to the KF in-game Listen Server using the Host game interface. Using this KF interface I was able to remove all the stock maps and add just the 6 maps i wanted to use. After all the maps played the maps were repeted just like i wanted them to do. This is now what i want to do with my stand alone dedicated server.



Also I'm sorry to bhave to write in a very simple mannor.but i just want to make my problem clearly understood by even some 5th graders that have helped me in the past using simple English. I'm not a programmes or software engineer so explaining things to me have to be very basic.

^ I use this site for my graphic design job for getting vector templates of various cars for vehicle wraps, decals, etc.



I just noticed that they have a section for tanks..... including WWII tanks.



These templates from my personal experience of using them, are generally scaled 1:20 and are usually accurate to within a couple of millimeters of possible error.



Please keep in mind that like istockphoto or shutterstock image web sites, this site requires money which converts to credits for purchasing a number of templates, so unless you want to do that, this site may not be for you. You can obtain larger resolution JPGs of the shown templates for free, but again, you might as well go for some of the other templates out there if you want to do that, as I believe they tweak the scale a little bit in those so people can't rely on them for accuracy. These higher resolution JPG's are not typically found on the template's page and there's a workaround needed (not illegal of course) However, any avid 3D modeler wanting to have an accurate design of their projects may want to check this site out. I know these templates (which come in AI, EPS, PDF, DWG, SVG, vector designs) have helped me a lot in the sign industry.



Professionally speaking, these templates are much more reliable and accurate for using in 3D modelling than referencing low resolution JPG photos or rough drawings and I believe they would help out anybody wanting to 3D model a tank or other WWII vehicle for RO2/RS, dev or hobbyist alike.



There is also a section for WWII planes, weapons, ships, etc.

I feel it is only fair for myself and my team mates to make a case of defense in the aftermath of monday's events.



With heavy heart I learned on monday with rest of our players that we have been disqualified from the ladders because one of our players has been deemed to be cheating having been suspect to editing two rows on ROGame.ini-file. I can not believe how harsh this verdict is for the rest of players in =RAGE= and the snow ball effect it will have for also tarnishing their reputation for rest of the life span of the RO: Hos game. Disqualification sets a huge 'CHEAT!!!111' stamp for the honest guys in =RAGE= and it makes our future pretty untenable. Undeservedly so. With matches being played with 6 to 8 players per side we also feel the effect of the suspected misuse is not big enough to warrant such a significant penalty.



=RAGE= has spent thousands of combined hours in RO-game series and my ethic has been that we try to be good sport versus everyone, unless they do not want to. Clean and good image has been very important for me and for most of my team mates. We have helped to re-create graphic bugs in straight contact with Tripwire personnel such as Yoshiro after RO: hos was launched. We have also been helpful towards mutator developments during RO: ladder and TWI: ladder. I have been also asking for demo-viewing possibilities since the beginning along with many other players to add transparency.



=RAGE= team will not make any case in defense for the suspected player. This has also been one of my principles. Everyone answers for themselves and their actions. Should the suspected player want to make a case of defense for himself, I truly hope he does it and he knows my stance. We want to make clear that we were not aware of any such wrong doings by the suspect.

I work on coding industry but I don't know too much about RO-mutator coding. Once the game creates an ini-file, lets say ROGame.ini, how hard it is to check with mutator if the ini-file is like vanilla? For me it sounds like comparing if a value is legit (gfx settings) or if the parameter exists in vanilla ini-file (no new values can be added). I'm not a big fan of the rule above because I have to admit I have been abusing one of my ini-files too because disabling VoiP in game simply does not work and I do not enjoy listening to other public players' music being played or sang as karaoke version. Yes, that means I could be banned under the rule above. Until today mutator has not checked for false VoiP values in ini-files which can be only accessed in ini, not in game. This was simply an example, maybe a bad one, but an example nevertheless. Another example would be bSmoothFramerate in roengine.ini which enables to raise the maxfps (frames per second) from the default ~85 or so to 120 for the game to appear smoother on 120hz display. Again not possible in the in-game settings but in no way anything questionable.



Our wish is to be not disqualified. We do agree that any match where suspected player played and was deemed using the suspected method can be voided or a win given in favor of the opponent. Disqualification is simply too harsh for the rest of the players and as I said in the beginning, it's unfair for them to carry the stamp of being a cheater. The effect will make it nearly impossible for us to continue as clan =RAGE= in RO: Hos.



I have been further saddened by reactions of some fellow players in the scene who are enjoying the aftermath of this verdict. Shame on you, too. I also want to thank the sympathies I have received as guys in RO-scene and other FPS-scene have given us support in this case thinking punishing whole team is too excessive in this case.



Never in history of competitive RO on various competitive arenas I have not seen a team disqualified/banned (or maybe someone can remind me of some case) even when there has been player(s) caught on significantly severe stuff like wall hacking. We can not understand the magnitude of the penalty for the clan. As even admins admit, the only piece of evidence used for disqualifing the whole clan is one youtube-video. We have appealed against the disqualification of =RAGE=. We will not appeal against the ban for our former player as he will do it himself should he wish to do so.

RS RSTE - Mayako





Hi there,

Mayako is a custom map for Rising Storm. I’ve been working on this map for several months now and it’s my first and I hope not last map for this game.



The map is not based on historical events during WW2. However, it's inspired by south-west area around Hue (Vietnam) because I originally planned to release this map as a custom map for In Country mod...



Mayako isn't available for download, yet. The map is in a playable state but many things needs to be done first (cover nodes, sounds etc.). Enjoy some screens and ignore palms :rolleyes:
