A scenario: I'm a Berserker, killing clots with my katana. I walk over a machete, picking it up. I see a Scrake appear, and want to switch to my scythe to kill it. I press 1, switching to my machete. I press 1 again, switching to my knife. I press 1 again, finally switching to my scythe. Ideally, I would only have to press one button.
Suggestion for KF2: Allow moving weapons from one key slot to another, with different layouts for each perk (and allow all number keys to be used if so inclined). For the Berserker, an example would be katana, machete, knife on 1, claymore, chainsaw, scythe, axes on 2, buzzsaw bow on 3, sidearms on 4, welder, syringe on 5, others on 6 and 7.
Another option would be the order of drawing weapons. For example, a Support Specialist would want 5 to draw the welder first, then pressing 5 again would draw the syringe, while a Field Medic would want the opposite.
And on a semi-related note, avoid making weapons without a secondary fire have an alternate fire. It's much easier to press the large right mouse button than it is to press the narrow scroll wheel (and the scroll wheel can change weapons if not careful). Alternatively, make the alternate fire and secondary fire perform the same action.
