I have only recently (re)discovered how much fun Firefight mode can be. I never really played it since RO1.
And it seems like no or very few Americans ever play it.
What saddens me about that is the fact that when I am most eager to play Firefight, is typically late at night when I just want to have some action packed shootouts, rather than engage in a lot of tactical communication and long spawn waits.
I would like to encourage others to get on the Firefight servers later in the evening, when the overload of halfbaked or otherwise inebriated players are lessening the quality of Territory play.
I am often under the influence myself by that time on the weekends, which is also when Firefight is most fun.
I think my situational awareness is no less keen. I just do not like waiting around or trying to hide from action in a cap zone as much as engaging in close contact combat.
It is more like fast break basketball games rather than playing baseball, waiting in the outfield for a long fly.
But by even early evening Eastern Time all the Firefight servers are empty. A pity. I have to get my Firefight fix at dinner time, when the Europeans are on. But sometimes getting 20 or even 30 players in a Firefight server can be as rewarding or more so than the territory games.
Actually I went to Firefight to level up a weapon I rarely use, but I quickly found out that having human opponents in the map makes everything so much more interesting and fun.
And many of the same tactics used in Territory come into play, as it is often a natural flow of taking out strong points led by human players, and the joys and sorrows of killing/behind killed by the hotshot humans are as satisfying as on other servers.
Not much of a forum poster. But I am glad to see RO2/RS retains a loyal population and does get new players from time to time.
But as my only game, I do at times get tired of the same basic experience over and over. And Firefight helps break up that monotony of defending or taking the same old objectives over and over.
