When not pressing T you basically have no HUD. Still there are name plates floating around. Why? Shouldn't a realistic game not have them? It takes out the suspense when another player comes around the corner. I immediately know whether it's an enemy or not. Accidental teamkills are an important part of every realistic FPS. Also it completely destroys the immersion. RO2 is the best looking WW2 game I know. I'd like to enjoy these graphics but when the round starts or when I'm around more than two teammates there's white text everywhere. It's distracting.
Now I know you only see the names when you are near your teammates but that doesn't make it any better. Plus the majority of players tend to use the easiest option available so there are many servers that have name plates visible from every distance which looks just plain ugly. To be honest I've never seen a server that had no name plates at all (if that's even possible).
So what's wrong with name plates only popping up when you mouse over teammates (while being near them of course)? That way you still know who is who and if in doubt there's always the tactical map which every player should use frequently anyway. What makes players' names so special that they have to be always visible? I'd love to see this "feature" removed. It would be a better game without it.
