Two things I'd like to see in Killing Floor 2 is;
MAX Ping - I know this can fluctuate over networks. I do see matchmaking capabilities, but some of the players I see on my servers are pushing 150+ pings. The highest I have seen was 800. That's absolutely ludicrous.
I suggest that there can be a ping limit set by the admin. Lets say that I want to have the max ping set to 100. Players join normally, but if their ping gets over 100, they can get a small popup or indicator on their screen that tells them that they have excessive ping. Its doesn't have to up there for very long, and it doesn't have to be dead middle of the screen either.
I am sure the software is smart enough to determine what length constitutes a kick, but should the ping get to above 100, and drop below that, and it does it several times, it should be strike based. If the admin sets it at 100, and a player exceeds that by going to 125+ three times over a determined period of time, gets the warnings each time, and eventually the boot.
The other thing that bothers be is the inability to limit/ban late joiners. I have seen many games, whether monitoring then via the web admin or actually in the game, where there is a handful of late joiners. Some of these people come in either solo or, in groups of three. They join the game, get in with the team and then after the wave starts, disconnect. It add an incredible amount of Zeds to the equation and usually invites some frustration and chaos into the game.
Other people may have good intentions and wish to join a server which is low ping and their intentions are to help out as much as possible. Then there others that join the servers, ask for Dosh, purely suck or die instantly and then depart.
The teams focus and hard earned fight shouldn't be compromised by people who join, enter the game, look to see all the Dosh has been used and immediately leave.
I suggest having an optional tick box which, when enabled, prohibits joiners after wave Four. I don't have the time to do the math and figure out exactly how many more Zeds come into play at each wave, when there are a number of players already in game. I know on hard, the soloist typically gets about 25 or so, two players its in the low 60's and a third player it can get up to 87 or so. These are significant increases.
I password alot of my servers just for these two reasons - High pings and late joiners / and disconnecting players. I can then manage who gets in and we can have sane, fun game play.
It would be nice to open up a few more of the servers, but only if something optional can be put in place to limit the frustration of people who intend to interject negativity and wreck game play.
Again, this is a suggestion to TWI. I don't plan on defending this suggestion to anyone other than the developers at TWI. Hope this suggestion helps. See you on the Killing Floor in the near future.
