Im terribly sorry, the melee system in this game is one of the most atrocious unreliable melee mechanics i have ever seen not to mention completely unrealistic.
first, the stab just hits a tiny point in the center of the screen. without any indication what so ever it is incredibly easy to miss, in real life people have hand-to-eye coordination so they stab what they see.
next, in this game the stab is just a simple poke, which is not lethal unless it hits the upper chest. it shouldn't be a poke, your soldier is supposed to stick the bayonet in the enemy until he dies. it is incredibly frustrating successfully stab someone only to get killed by him an instant later because you happened to poke his stomach or shoulder.
upon successful contact, the bayonet will stick inside the enemy until he dies, the enemy should not be able to shoot while there's a 90KG man thrusting a 16 inch knife into you.
if the bayonet made contact with the shoulder, it will just take longer for the enemy to die from the bleeding.
to offset this, if you are killed before the enemy dies he could still bandage himself and live on.
the next terrible problem is while stabbing, you are forced to stand completely still.
this is again, incredibly unrealistic and makes the melee system horribly unreliable, it should not impede movement in any way. why would anyone need to stand still to preform a simple thrust with his rifle?
and finally, and most importantly, fix the hit detection.
right now the area affected by the stab is just a tiny point in the center of the screen, if you can't make the character automatically stab the nearest enemy in front of him to prevent it from being "too much like cod" at least increase the area of effect, it should at least a large square roughly half the size of the screen.
in real life people can stab also sideways and horizontally, not just straight.
Melee is supposed to reward players who managed to get close enough to an enemy when they could easily be shot just once and drop dead.
right now the melee system outright punishes people for being brave and daring.
QUICK RECAP:
1)you will not just poke the gun forward: upon successful contact your soldier will keep sticking the bayonet in the enemy which will be unable to shoot until he dies or saved by a teammate
2) preforming a melee attack will not impede your movement. you will be able to walk at normal speed
3)vastly increase the damage area of the bayonet, instead of a tiny point it will be a large circle roughly at half the size of the screen
please support my idea, it really pains how such a realistic game has one of the most unrealistic melee mechanics in video games
