I like the grimdark atmosphere

Killing floor sports a handful of uppity and humorous things. Comedic voice acting, an over the top soundtrack, and steampunk characters and weapons.

I feel like they are dependant on this sort of yin yang though(balance). If there was not the grimdark aspects of the game, then you wouldn't feel anything for the atmosphere and if everything is uppity and lighthearted, you are throwing away a lot of your immersive assets.

I remember the first time I had to choose which character I had to play, and it was a group of soldiers/surviving police that had names and a backstory. It was on a dark, disorienting map and this music plays:

In this, I felt immersed and it seemed as though the endeavor had some weight to it. If I joined killing floor today, I would see silly weapons, level 6 players steamrolling through everything and making silly voice comms, and it would probably be on some super easy map like gas station.

You already have a lot of characters and voice comms done in kf2, but just keep in mind for future updates, please don't be too lighthearted. Some funny voice acting now and then, some cheesy weapons, but don't make the entire game lighthearted or it's boring and non immersive.

TL;DR survival should be the focus of the art style, lighthearted content should be in moderation or it kills the feel.(even though kf2 is more about going out of your way to hunt down the clones than surviving in the first, so humorously confident characters won't be as annoying)
