Firstly, hi. I'm gonna get right to the point here.
I like how tripwire is sticking to the classics but I really want to see some new stuff too. I'm not too excited that I haven't heard of any new perks, or game modes yet. Because the same old "Shoot zeds, get dosh, buy guns, repeat." thing is great and all but there could be more.
Perks
I kind of want to see like a plague doctor character / perk that isn't very powerful in the combat department but can buff allies and debuff enemies. Maybe uses melee weapons and builds up a charge to use buff skills like damage reduction, reload speed, heal potency, etc for buffs and can mark big zeds to take more damage or slow them or stack poisons or something.
Or perk that gets a paint gun that doesn't do damage but increases the damage taken to the body part that is painted of the zed. Like, paint a fleshpound's head, it takes more damage to that area. Maybe even have multiple functions, like lay down paint on the ground and a pyro can set it ablaze for a fire wall effect. Having perks able to work together to devastating effect would really reduce the amount of perk stacking.
Why not a tank perk that can taunt enemies into hitting him, but can't take actions while hunkering down for the hits, so your allies can take out that fleshpound instead of having the medic to go up and face tank it cause his armor is cheap and takes 1000 damage.
Perks having abilities instead of just passive upgrades would be a lot more fun, and would make levelling the perks feel more like a progression instead of a grind to get that damage buff. The old perk system kinda sucked in that low level perks couldn't play in harder difficulties cause they'd just get destroyed, if the other players didn't kick them first. Player cooperation should be looked into as well cause too often I see berserkers and commandos and even medics running off solo like they're playing single player.
Grenade replacements like thrown weapons, exploding dagger that doesn't have a big blast radius but won't backfire on you and can't be dodged if it's stuck in a zed. Maybe a weapon that marks a zed so it takes more damage, or players can life steal off of. Poisons, status effects, people have said this stuff before.
Game Modes
Maybe some defense modes. Or how about a raid mode where the players have to fight their way into an overrun lab to get some objective and then fight their way out. Possibly a story mode? A versus mode where two teams have to see who can clear all the zeds faster, or get more points or whatever. Why not a game mode where every round a rng picks a certain zed that gets buffed with more health or damage or speed for that round. A mode where the player can sacrifice their max health or speed in order to get some other buff. Handicap modes to make it more tough on the players and encourage team work. Some variety would be nice.
Anyway that's all I got, but I'd like to see more ideas in this field of the game rather than just the ever popular weapon threads.
