- Rages everything in sight? Check.
- Blinds teammates and makes them rage? Check.
- Is completely redundant with a similar perk that has non of its downsides? (Commando) Check.
- Makes waves 1~4 a cakewalk with absolute no challenge, even on HoE? (Seriously, just the Flamethrower alone--which Firebugs spawn with--has enough ammo to dominate all the kills in a 6-player match.) Check.
Now, I know there are Firebad-lovers out there. I understand your position, because I too had a 'teenage' phase when I liked setting everything on fire. But that lasted only a few days, before I started to hate Firebug with a passion.
Spamming everything on fire is a gimmick! The fun comes from the incredibly satisfying feeling of:
- slicing off heads (Beserker)
- popping heads (Commando/Sharpshooter)
- obliterating a tightly-packed group of 20 zeds with a single grenade (Demolitions)
- doing the same with a neatly lined up group of 20 zeds with a shotgun (Support Specialist)
- saving your teammate from a near death and having them thank you 20 times (Field Medic)
After the initial novelty, Firebug brings you no rewards or satisfaction!
The Firebug perk is equivalent to having a "Bloat-bile-bug" or a "Electricbug" or a "Waterbug". It makes no sense to focus on one specific element and ignore all the others.
This is not a problem of "don't like it don't use it" because other people will, and this is a team game.
Also, if you want to vote "No" on the poll, vote for the 4th "No". If you vote for the other "No"s, then you are proving that you didn't read my post! Please read it, I spent a lot of time writing it... ._.;;
Maybe, make Tripwire can provide a setting for servers to disable certain perks? I know if that happens, I will make my own server and disable the Firebad perk permanently. (And maybe even set up a chat filter that automatically bans people who mention the keywords "why" "can't" "pick" "firebug"--or is that too mean? Hehe.)
